First off, a big apology to the loyal readers who have been asking for new comics! I think I have reached a point where to continue with On The Edge regularly, it would have to be a full time job, which is something I never really intended to do, and I’m not sure I’m ready for. I have other ideas and other stories that I want to create, and it doesn’t really leave time to give On The Edge the attention it needs. I’m also trying to decide what I really want to do with my life. A job with benefits would be nice… anyone hiring?
I have updated Wonderland though, with 2 new pages. You can find them here, or read the story over again here. I have a bunch done now, so I will try and get a few pages up every week. The entire first chapter will also soon be available on Kidjutsu! A new comic site for kids.
In other news, I am planning to be at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, May 9th and 10th, selling my children’s book, and the first chapter of On The Edge: Wonderland in print form. Hopefully, I’ll have some other fun things on sale as well, like homemade Mr. Negative stuffies! If you’re in Toronto, be sure to check it out!
I think that’s it for now. Here’s one last pic for you, from the gallery show I was in at the Flint Institute of the Arts:
Bye for now!
New comics are coming down the pipeline, now with brush pen-y goodness!
In more news, On The Edge is going to be in a real live art gallery!!
That’s right – from January 24 to April 26, selected strips will be shown in Beyond The Frame: African American Comic Book Artists, hosted by the Flint Institute of the Arts in Flint, Michigan. I might try to be there for opening night, but money is somewhat tight, so we’ll see what happens. Anyways, if you’re in the area, go see it!
Enjoy!
The Word on the Street webcomics panel went pretty smoothly on Sunday. The flip-flops in my belly began to reside as everyone began talking. There was a moderator, and we had microphones (although we had to share), which was neat. Hearing your voice in a microphone is pretty bizarre. I was able to get a few words in, so I’m pretty happy with that. Me vs. Public Speaking: Score 1 for me!
Anyways, I’ve gotten some more On The Edge Wonderland pages done and I think it’s time to start putting them up. I’ve decided to do it in chunks, because putting up 1 or 2 pages per week just doesn’t seem right in terms of the (attempted) flow of story. I don’t know how often I’ll do this, probably once per month, or whenever I have the next chapter done. At some point I’ll also have the pages up on Webcomicsnation.com.
Any questions, comments or criticisms can be written in this blog, or just shoot me an e-mail!
This Sunday will be the Word On The Street festval Here in Halifax! I’ll be on the webcomics panel at 4pm, with a bunch of other online comics people such as Faith Erin Hicks, Tim Larade, Mike White, and Andrew Power. I’ll also have a little sample booklet of comics to give away, with 15 pages of the On The Edge Wonderland story, and a few sketches. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to put together a real book due to the fact that I’ve been working hard on my very first publishing gig – as a contributing illustrator on a new book series for teens called Dork Diaries! It sure was a lot of work, but possibly the most fun I’ve had as an artist so far.
My comic strip series The Irregulars has also been running for the past few Sundays in the Chronicle Herald Newspaper, and there are 3 more to come. If you haven’t seen it you can find them online on my Comicspace page!
